Today's picture is from Safed. This ancient city in the northern region of Israel is located on the tall Meiron Mountain.
Since the sixteenth century, Safed has been considered one of Judaism's Four Holy Cities, along with Jerusalem, Hebron and Tiberias; since that time, the city has remained a center of Kabbalah, also known as Jewish mysticism.
Located at an elevation of 900 metres (2,953 ft), Safed is the highest city in the Galilee and of Israel. At these heights you are in the top of the world.
This unique city is home to a strong Jewish community as well as a thriving artist colony. There is something magical about the small streets winding around the mountain.
The old houses, the history, the art and the beautiful setting create a one of a kind city - don't miss a visit to Safed if you are in Israel.
